So, it’s a nice sunny day – let’s fix the washers, eh? 😎 I have this hose kit from Amazon, but I’m hoping to use only part of it… Specifically, this part. I’ve been thinking. The most likely failure point is where the hose joins the bonnet, where it has flexed every time the bonnet has been opened and closed for 20 years. I reverse out of the garage, open the bonnet and inspect the nearside hinge, where the hose is clipped into a plastic cover. Sure enough, as I unclip it, the hose comes apart in my hands... – it had been holding on with about 10% of its circumference intact, bolstered by the loom tape it is wrapped in. This will explain why I was still getting some fluid, but at low pressure. I try fitting the inline connector – it’s a bit too large for the hose, but I intend to use this to my advantage. I bring out a mug of boiling water and immerse the ends of the hose, after which, with some effort, the connector fits snugly. Before joining the second piece of hose, I slip a short length of heat shrink tube on to protect the repair… …and after making the fix, use my heat gun to shrink-wrap the joint. I’m fairly confident this will be a permanent solution – with the heat shrink doing the job that the loom tape performed. Failing that, my other option will be to completely replace the hose – but as I put the kit into a drawer in the garage, I decide to call that Plan B…😁 I close the bonnet, put the hood up and… Yay! 😃 After clearing up the tools, etc, I decide the car is looking distinctly grubby. This has been a hot summer, and I've used it almost every day. I need to get some stuff at Tesco… …so, I let the nice chaps at the car wash loose on it, whilst I do my shopping, then grab a coffee at Costa. On the way home, I unwisely park illegally (for literally four minutes😆), whilst I drop some stuff off at a charity shop. No good deed goes unpunished…🤣😂🤣 I’m home in five minutes. Doesn’t scrub up badly for an old girl, does she?😃

Aaahhh, That makes sense. Not gonna lie put me off the car quite a lot. If the car is ran as a cab it’s going to have more wear and tear. I appreciate all the information. I will keep looking👍
