Stewart is appreciate a response as to why my answer was funny. I've found LLL parts useful for schematics for my own Audi. If my answer was so amusing why don't you contact Audi? I'm sure they'd find charging you a fortune amusing.

Hi Gareth Okay, I think I have resolved the issue. I sprayed a lot of WD40 into the black cylindrical buttons that pop in and out near the latches. I am guessing the switch is connected to one of these. After doing that several times, the warning light has gone off and has stayed off. That's probably the limit of my expertise, so I'm glad that I seem to have resolved it this way. My feeling is that the switch is actually fine, because if you sit on the bonnet the warning light goes off, indicating to me that it works fine, it was just that it wasn't getting engaged. Thanks for the info on the wipers, that all makes sense and is a clever system. The bit I was intrigued about was that even if the warning light was showing, it only cuts out the wipers if you have the handbrake on, or if you are pressing the brake pedal. When you drive along, even with the bonnet warning light showing, the wipers work fine. It's ingenious! But that is why the MOT failed, because with it parked on the ramp, the wipers didn't come on. Thanks for all your help. With some luck the warning light will now stay off long enough to get it through the re-test. :)

Hi Graham, in my limited experience tyre noise is not just an a3 problem. I owned a Merc a200 before the Audi which was just as bad on the local roads. I`ve also test driven a BMW 1series, an Audi a4, and a Volvo v60, on the same roads with similar results. Regards, Welly.

Hi Welly, thanks for your reply, and I understand your comments that the QQ1 light pack is only basic and yes I could also live with it, however Audi have not even fitted it in the car although it is standard equipment on this model. So I am going to ask the dealership to retro fit it. As regards the tyre noise yes it seems to be aproblem on A3's, once these have worn down a bit I will probably put a set of Pirelli's on and see if they are any better. Best Wishes Graham

Hi, Graham I think the QQ1 is the basic interior lighting kit fitted as standard. I have a 2025 version and queried this when I bought the car, its poor at best but have learned to live with it! (And the road noise from the tyres, tried 3 different makes and also 16" wheels, no difference. It really depends on the road surface.)
