I'm trying to glue the seat panel back to the grey mounting carrier, but i'm struggling to get it detached? What do i do with the 2 marked silver metal pieces, do i squeeze them, if so how? The panel moves left and right no problem, but i can't pull it out so i can glue to the back panel. I tried asking ChatGPT but it started hallucinating.

Rear diffs are usually bomb proof. I’ve taken diesels Quattros to 175k with no clunks. Your B7 is just 66k, which is exceptionally low mileage for a 20 year old car. That in itself could be the reason. 20 years and the rubber bushes may be showing age wear. I know your signature says no maps. Is it stock? That’s difficult to know for certain if the car is new to you. The B7 is one of these cars that tends to attract modification. Anyway, if it were me, then I’d look at the central prop bearing carrier first. That is known to wear. Then look and change the diff bushes to stock. Hopefully they’ve not been ‘upgraded’ for poly bushings. The rear diff just takes a couple of litres of gear oil, so I don’t see any issue with draining and refilling. Always undo the fill plug first and then the drain plug. Also get a magnet and check the drained oil. You might get some contamination, but genuinely not swarf. Prop shafts can be known to be out of balance, but I think you’d feel that all the time over a certain speed and not a clunk. The B7 forum on Audi-sport forum also has pretty niche following. You could certainly post there if you haven’t already done so.
