2020 model: When my dog jumps into the boot, the boot closing beeper starts and the boot starts to close automatically without pushing the buttons or the key fob. This happens probably 25% of the time when he jumps in. It doesn't happen any other time, I've tried hitting the boot floor to simulate him jumping in but it never happens. If I quickly push the boot close button on the lid, it stops and a 2nd push opens the boot lid again fully. If you don't react quickly, the lid will hit you unless you move out the way. Very disconcerting!!

Ive just discovered that the SOS call button has an emergency backup battery which has a lifespan of 3-5 years. My car is 6 yrs old. If it fails I believe this would take out bluetooth and gps in addition to there being no light on the SOS button. Has anyone had to change theirs?

That's a really helpful post, Magnet! I'm definitely committing myself to at least yearly oil changes, and will get a bottle of Quantum 3 on standby just in case. I'm also going to get the transmission fluid changed within the next few months as that seems like another biggie. I'd love to do the servicing myself, but I've no experience of doing so, or really anywhere suitable to do it - but thankfully, I've got a great local mechanic I use.

I've been considering going down the Lanoguard route, particularly since my old A4 corroded so badly underneath. I just need a set of ramps, but that should be easy enough. That's a good shout on the rear bushes - I won't be doing the servicing myself, but I can at least get my mechanic to check those on the MOT. I've no experience of using VCDS, but having a code reader sounds like a useful diagnostic tool. Any ideas on which one is a good one to get?
